Kristian advises companies and contracting authorities on all matters of public commercial law.
His particular focus is on public procurement as well as state aid and subsidy law. His area of expertise includes, in particular, the planning and implementation of procurement procedures for contracting authorities and recipients of subsidies. He guides his clients through the entire process, from preparation and implementation to contract award.
Kristian supports bidders in successfully participating in procurement procedures, from drafting pre-qualification applications and bids to navigating negotiations and bidder consultations.
He advises across various sectors, including healthcare, public infrastructure, higher education, research and development, as well as information technology.
In the field of EU state aid law, Kristian advises public authorities, local government-owned companies, higher education institutions and research institutions as well as recipients of subsidies.
He represents his clients in procurement review proceedings before procurement chambers and higher regional courts. He also advises them in other legal disputes such as objection proceedings, recovery of public subsidies and civil litigation.
Following his studies at the University of Bonn and Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona with a focus on public and European Law, Kristian completed his legal clerkship. Among others, he worked at a leading law firm in public (commercial) law and at the German Embassy in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). He soon after obtained an LL.M. in European Law from the German University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer.
Following his admission to the bar in June 2016, he practiced in the Public Procurement/Public Commercial Law practice group of a major international law firm before joining ESCH BAHNER LISCH in June 2017.
He regularly lectures on constitutional and administrative law at the Federal University of Applied Administrative Sciences in Brühl. Moreover, he is a member of the German Lawyers’ Association (DAV), the Cologne Lawyers’ Association (KAV), FORUM Junge Anwaltschaft, Forum Vergabe e.V., Netzwerk Chancen, as well as 1. FC Köln.
